On June 15, 2008, American Liberty University – A.L.U. celebrated their annual graduation ceremony. The Honorable Mayor of Beverly Hills received his prestigious Doctorate Award in the field of Humanity and Business from the Founder and President of ALU, Dr. Kevin Soltani. The degree given to Mayor Delshad was very unique in that, it was the first time American Liberty University had ever awarded a Doctorate degree to a high ranked Politician in the field of Humanity and Business. The proud members of the board of ALU’s educational staff were very honored and pleased to choose Mayor Delshad as this year’s Honoree Doctorate Degree recipient.

The A.L.U. Commencement Class of 2008 took the stage at Cal- Poly Pomona’s Bronco Student Center. In attendance, were some very famous faces and high-status guests, such as world renowned designer Dr. Bijan Pakzad, legendary Hollywood director Reza Badiyi, and Radio/ TV personality Dr. Mark L. Brenner.

Also on June 16, 2008 ALU’s alumni association appointed Dr. Jimmy Delshad as their new Alumni Association Chairman, at a dinner party held in Beverly Wilshire Hotel.

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. -- Jimmy Delshad promised in Farsi-accented English to faithfully serve as mayor, and a crowd of nearly 1,000 stood to cheer. And so Beverly Hills got its first Iranian American chief executive, marking the political arrival of an immigrant community that has quietly reshaped this famously posh city over the past 25 years.

 

Delshad, 67, is now widely regarded as the highest-ranking Iranian-born officeholder in the United States. It's a source of pride for Iranian emigrants around the world. He was reelected to the Beverly Hills City Council for a second term earlier this month and rotated into the mayor's seat last week.

Beverly Hills To Increase Free Parking On Friday PDF Print E-mail

Beverly Hills will resume providing two hours of free parking in four city-owned structures beginning Friday in an attempt to lure shoppers.

 

Beverly Hills reduced the length of free parking to one hour a year ago to generate revenue to compensate for lower income from sales and hotel taxes.  However, complaints from residents and merchants prompted the City Council to vote 5-0 Nov. 13 to reinstitute two hours of free parking.

City Outlines Plan to Ease Traffic on Olympic and Pico PDF Print E-mail

The City of L.A. today outlined a new plan that promises to cut seven minutes from the commute along two of the city's busiest east-west streets: Olympic and Pico Boulevards. Seven minutes doesn't sound like much, but to anyone who drives across Los Angeles during rush hour, seven minutes can be an eternity. KPCC's Nick Roman says the plan won't get you from here to eternity, just across town a little faster.
